The Matter at Hand
Arizona Territory, 1892. High in the Bradshaw Mountains, seventeen people vanished from a mining operation called Black Mesa. The shafts were found quiet. The tools were where they had been left.
Territorial Marshal Silas Vance rode up from Prescott to find them. His final report was never filed. Neither, it seems, was he.
The file was closed without an answer. The Bureau has reopened it.
